Microchipping

In the event that your pet is lost or separated from you, microchipping can be a big help in getting them back. A small identification chip is inserted just under your pet’s shoulder blade that can be scanned by pet hospitals and shelters to retrieve your personal contact information and reconnect you with your pet.

Spay/Neuter Procedure

We highly recommend spaying and neutering for all pets. This procedure poses numerous health benefits and prevents unwanted litters. The best time for this procedure is before your pet has fully sexually matured. Talk to one of our veterinarians or call us if you have a new puppy or kitten to schedule an appointment.

Puppy Wellness Exams

Puppy examinations are scheduled every 3-4 weeks until the puppy is over 16 weeks of age. This allows us to properly monitor your puppy’s growth, vaccinate against illnesses, and prevent parasitic infections. The veterinarian will complete a full physical examination and administer core and non-core vaccines during these visits.

Vaccinations are used to keep your puppy safe from life-threatening conditions, and they are especially important given their developing immune systems.

Before your puppy has received all of their proper vaccinations, we recommend protecting them by physically safeguarding against places where they may be susceptible to disease. It is best to keep them in your own home as much as possible and avoid dog parks, trails, and the outdoors in general until your puppy has completed their course of vaccines.

There are two types of vaccines for puppies, core and non-core.

• Core Vaccines - Rabies, distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus.
• Non-Core Vaccines - Given based on your pet’s lifestyle, health condition, and risk of exposure.

Kitten Wellness Exams

Multi-Cat Households

• For all kittens that live in households with other cats, it is highly recommended that they receive Feline Leukemia (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) testing. Testing requires two drops of blood and can be completed during a wellness check.
• It is strongly advised not to introduce your kitten to other cats in your household until test results are completed. 
• The process of introducing a new cat into a multi-cat household is a somewhat gradual process. Follow the steps below for a smooth and safe introduction!
  • Situate your new kitten in a room separate from the rest of your cats.
  • Allow the cats to smell each other through the door, but not make physical contact.
  • After some time, place your kitten in a carrier for the other cats to see it.
  • Allow them to interact.
